Kinilū was born from its creator’s desire to change.

Passionate about painting and drawing, Federico found a completely innovative way to express his imagination and creativity by giving light to polystyrene. A journey never undertaken before, which he embarked on with his partner Chiara to discover new applications, geometries and atypicalities, to seduce every environment with light and colour.

Lightweight, water resistant, fireproof. Polystyrene is all of this but, despite these properties, it has always been underestimated and relegated to construction work or packaging. We fell in love with it almost by chance. Bored with conventional materials, for fun we tried to illuminate some old packaging in polystyrene, and the magic released in the darkness in our lab bewitched us.
